Homewall Vs. Gym Quality Holds

All of our holds are made from high strength polyurethane formulated for manufacturing climbing holds. Our gym quality holds are made from a superior polymer and have a rough, more durable texture.

Screw on Vs. Bolt on Holds

Please check the listing titles for either “screw on” or “bolt on”

Screw on holds are great if you don’t want to deal with T-nuts or if you want to fill in space between your bolt on holds. They can be fastened directly to the wall using #8 wood screws.

Bolt on style holds are primarily fastened using 3/8” bolts. They’re great for people who want to change their routes often but will require an initial investment and installation of T-Nuts.

What fasteners do you provide?

3/8" diameter socket cap bolts and/or #8 Phillips head countersunk wood screws.

Our fasteners have a black oxide finish ideal for indoor use.

If you order fasteners for an additional charge you'll receive the correct quantities and bolt lengths selected based on wall thickness (3/4", 1", or 1.5").
For screw on holds we make sure the screw protrudes 1" or more from the back of the hold.

Texture

Homewall Holds come with a soft sticky texture.

Gym Quality Holds will have a more abrasive texture similar to what you would find in a modern climbing gym. The footholds will have a coarse texture in order to provide the most durability. Larger hollow back holds will have a medium texture and smaller hand holds will be the least abrasive.

Climbing wall Info

We used a sturdy frame of 2x6 and 2x4 pressure treaded lumber and then mounted ¾” thick plywood fitted with a grid of 3/8”-16 T-nuts for the climbing surface. The T-nuts are not necessary if you are using Screw on Holds only.

Who we are and how we make our holds

We are small team of engineers and commercial gym route setters with over 10 years of experience in engineering design and manufacturing. We do things a little differently by using Computer Aided Design and 3D Printers to make our shapes and casting components. This process not only makes our holds look and feel amazing but is extremely efficient making it more environmentally sustainable.

Our holds are manufactured using 100% high strength polyurethane specifically formulated for manufacturing climbing holds. We embed the holds with Grade 8 flat washers and/or stainless steel countersunk washers for extra strength and durability.
